What is Biltong & Droewors?

Biltong (pron. bill-tong) is a 400 year old traditional South African beef snack, cured in a unique and highly nutritious way.  It is different from American Jerky, both in taste and preparation. Biltong USA is the first meat processing plant in the United States to produce Biltong inspected, passed and approved by the USDA under the HACCP Program.

Biltong Sticks / Droewors

In the late 1600's the Joubert Family, who were French Huguenots, settled in the fertile valleys of the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa. For generations their secret family recipe and method of curing beef, was passed down for future generations to enjoy. This product is now available in the US for the first time ever.

Biltong and Biltong Sticks are cool air dried and seasoned with natural spices. The products fall into three groups : Biltong Regular is produced from large beef pieces and sliced into small pieces after the curing process; Biltong Chips are made from slender, thinner sliced solid Beef pieces that after curing, are then cut into chunky bits.  Biltong Sticks, also known as Droewors (pron. drew-uh-vorse or dried sausage) come in approximately five 6 inch long pieces per pack. Droewors or Biltong Sticks, is a beef sausage that has been cured and dried in the same way as Biltong. 

All three products come in 6 different flavors : Regular, Spicy Mild, Spicy Medium, Spicy Hot, Garlic and Spicy Garlic.

The ingredients in Biltong Regular and Biltong Chips is 100% USDA Beef, Salt, Brown Sugar, Flavorings and Vinegar. The ingredients in Biltong Sticks (Droewors) is 100% USDA Beef, Vinegar, Brown Sugar, Salt, Flavorings and stuffed in Lamb Casings.

The best quality USDA lean beef is used to manufacture Biltong and Biltong Sticks.
